A Great Gift

Mother’s day is coming up and my gift for my mom-in-law is all set. Then after that, Father’s day is next, and I’m thinking of getting my hubby a new work boots cause I have seen his favorite work boots and it’s all torn up. I have been looking for a site where I can download this song of David Cook. His version of Always Be My Baby is by far much better than Mariah's (in my opinion, no offense meant, i love Mariah but i guess the rocker in me kicked in when I heard David's version). Anyways, thankfully, i was able to download it on my computer from mirc and then i remembered, i can check it on imeem.com too. There it was... sitting there waiting for me to be downloaded ehehhhe. We Got Hit By An Earthquake

At around 4:30 a.m. (April 18th) I woke up coz my little kuletz cried, sounds like he was dreaming. I checked him and he just went back to sleep.. as soon as I laid down again about, I felt that my bed is kinda shaking a little bit, and then the shaking just kept escalating plus you can hear the glass windows' tremblings. It felt like a train is passing by our house, but our crib is not "along da riles" :). I knew it was an earthquake. It lasted for about 30-40 seconds and my guess was like intensity 5. After that I immediately turned the t.v. on and watched the news, just for me to know what the intensity was... it sure was 5.4 (that's what they said) but the official one is 5.2. The epicenter is about 300 miles away from Chicago. The quake was felt by other midwest state too. I was amazed to find out on the news that some people don't have any idea that it was an earthquake, maybe because it wasn't very usual to have an earthquake here in Illinois, unlike in California. My hubby was so asleep that he didn't feel a thing, he was even in the basement sleeping and felt nothing ehehehe. To read more about the said earthquake please click here.

Online Phone Cards

I have used phone cards before to call my family back home probably once or twice. After that never bought one again, why? Cause I get disappointed every time. What happened on the first occasion was, I bought a $20 phone card (about 3 ½ hours of talk time) and tried calling my mother, for some reason, she didn’t answer the phone and guess what? They deducted at least 1 hour of my talk time for just leaving a two minute (probably less) message! Geez! It was ridiculous! I tried calling them to ask why, but the cell phone provider's customer service is just as bad as their phone cards.

So, what I did was find another site that offers, cell phone plans, pay as you go cell phone and ofcourse online phone cards and found one. I thought I found a good card this time, but again, I was wrong. They didn’t charge me an hour of talk time for leaving a message, but they have this so many hidden charges that they kept on deduction to your talk time, they have this connection fee, maintenance fee and they have this thing that if you don’t use your card it will just expire and our minutes will just vanish in thin air! Since then, I never used a phone card again.

However, I am thinking of trying another one, coz my regular phone which charges me of 16 cents per minute just sent me a letter saying that they are gonna be increasing their fees for international calls. Thankfully, one of my friends recommended a site that I think she uses often and offers online phone cards. She said I can get a low rate that starts from 4.7 cents per minute (way lower than my 16 cents) and wow, no connection fee! Gigantic Sweet Tooth

Who doesn't love chocolate? I don't know about you guys, but I love chocolates and I sure have a gigantic sweet tooth... I ran out of a store bought cake/dessert the other day, thankfully, I have a box of brownie fudge mix in the pantry. I jazzed it up a bit with mini m&ms and peanuts to make it like a truly home made brownie fudge. What The Heck ?

What the heck is the matter with these people? Remember when I was telling you about someone ringing the doorbell just a few days after our move in this house? Found out that kids walking by were doing it. It is happening again. However, this time it wasn't kids anymore. I was so thankful that hubby was here when someone rang the bell at 11:30 P.M. mind you, 11:30 at night!!! He peaked at the door window, he said it was a black guy, why he rang the bell, we don't know. Today, its 6:52 p.m. and somebody was freaking knocking on our window.. what the heck?!! I didn't see who it was, but since it is still pretty much bright at this time, I saw a shadow on our driveway.. why in the world you'd knock on our window then you will hide after? After that, I heard someone knocking so hard on our neighbors house. Geez! If they need something, don't hide heck! Leave a freaking note if you want coz I sure won't open the door no matter who you are!

The Shedd Aquarium

The weather has been pretty good lately (eventhough it has been raining for a day or two). Yesterday hubby decided to take kuletz to Chicago's Shedd Aquarium. It's in the 60s here yesterday, but feels colder coz of the wind, plus the location of the aquarium is by the lake so it gets much colder. Although we're dressed pretty warm, my ears and my cheeks are freezing and so as kulet'z eheehehe The parking lot is pretty far from the main entrance so we have to walk like a mile or two. If its not windy, it's should be a pretty good walk, coz you're walking by the lake (kuletz loved it!) It's his first time going to the Shedd Aquarium. When we got our tickets and got in, all you can hear from the little boy is "mommy, daddy, look fish!!!" and "wow". There's a dolphin show, but to my surprise, he didn't pay much attention to that (although he's clapping every now and then), maybe because we're sitting a bit far. He did get the chance to take a close look at the dolphins after the show but he really wasn't into it. His attention is all into those fishes that's in the little aquariums. He spent a lot of time looking into those. Oh! And he also spent some time lookin at the lizards ehehehehe. I wanted to take a look at the sea creatures from the Philippines but didn't get the chance coz of kuletz.. he wanted to just stare at one aquarium. Anyways, here are some of the photos..

Yay! I'm Done!

I am so done with the excruciating wait for my citizenship interview. I wasn't able to sleep last night not because I am nervous for the said interview, but I am more eager to get it over with. I am not a very negative person, but I am more into thinking the worst thing can happen (in any situation, in this case my interview). Joy Ride

It was another good day yesterday, but unfortunately, since hubby and I are still in not so good speaking terms, I just slept all day. However, at around 6 p.m., he said, we are gonna be rolling to Navy Pier (downtown Chicago). So suprised he talked to me as if nothing happened ehehehe We just actually went for a joy ride, coz we know that Navy Pier is gonna be closed already, coz by the time we pulled off the garage, its almost 7:30. We went downtown anyway, had kuletz see those boats in the lake... then went to the Rock and Roll Mcdonald's downtown, which incidentally, is next to the Hard Rock Cafe and Rainforest Cafe, so kuletz was so amazed with the tons of Chicago lights. All you can hear from him is "wow, nice ha!?" or "look, look at that mommy/daddy!" Can't blame him, he hasn't been there in a while. I took some photos but it didn't turn out nice.. maybe coz of my lack of photography skills ehehehehe

She Passed

I am so happy for my friend Che coz she passed the citizenship interview yesterday. She said, she was asked 10 questions and need to answer at least 6 to pass. She did very well, she answered all 10 :) I am not nervous at this point, but I am sure on Tuesday evening I will be up all night thinking about what's gonna happen to me on Wednesday (April 9th). I am still reviewing all the civics lessons. I can't be too confident, coz you'll never know what's gonna happen. I hope everything will turn out well. Can't wait for this to get over with.

Rubiks Cube (Again)

Hubby and I was so amazed and happy last night, coz of our little one here. Imagine, he can solve one side of the good ol' rubiks cube that made me crazy when I was younger. He started solving it (remember just one color/side) the other day, thought it was "tsamba". But yesterday, he kept solving one color to another. What he'd do is solve one color, then scramble it.. thought he was even cheating eheeeh but I scrambled the cube and after a while he showed it to me and one color was put together already. His daddy said he's a genius eheeheh (he loves his own, I'm telling you) He's just surprised coz he can't even solve one himself.

Sunday Lunch

This is the pic of my Sunday lunch... it took me a while to cook it but it was delish anyway so, no biggie :)... My own version of chopsuey ehhehehe Hubby said it was good, and when he say it's good he means it... (he's my number one critic when it comes to everything :D) But, he did not eat the fish (tilapia). He just looked at me shaking his head with a little smile coz he saw me eating the heck out of the fish head :D Can you blame me? That's the best part of tilapia (specially the eyes and brain ehehehe) :) (pics aren't so clear coz I just used my cellphone)
